the present moment
Notes to Self: We are all Learning as We Go
What if there is nothing you need to do? What if doing isn’t going to fix the way you feel?
What if creating todo list after todo list after todo list is not getting you any closer to where you are going or who you are becoming? What if, instead, it’s giving you a less-than momentary hit of false control, when what you are really looking for is relief?
What if part of being a human, having a human experience, is uncertainty?
And what if it’s not always about dancing with uncertainty – but sometimes enduring the discomfort of not always knowing who you are and where you are going?
What if life really isn’t linear?
What if in every moment you really are becoming? What if you are living in the bleeding edge of your life – literally learning as you go?
Would you expect every moment of it to go as planned? Would you expect even a single element of it to be perfect?
Or would you be so fucking proud of the challenges you’ve navigated and how far you’ve come? Of the quality of human that exists because of the life you’ve lived and the work you’ve done?
Could you, would you be in awe of yourself, admiring each and every imperfection?
And would you remember that it’s not over yet, that you are still alive and that you get to keep showing up — again & again, in the bleeding edge of who you are becoming?

Note: If you can be nothing but this — be kind. We are all learning as we go & you are no exception.
